O’s Notes: Back in 2017 we sited Berta Marino as one of the top jazz prospects on the Latin, modern jazz scene. We’re happy to report she’s no longer a budding prospect, Moreno is a wonderful, vibrant, A-List saxophonist! The music on Tumaini was heavily influenced by her trip to Kenya as she continues to broaden her perspective. Vocalist Alana Sinkëy shines on “The Beauty of The Slum”, gets soulful on “Mandhari I & II”, then scats alongside Moreno on “Dance”.
