O’s Notes: Chico has enjoyed a lengthy musical career touching the hearts of many along the way. This album presents us with a relaxed program, a reflection of his journey set in today’s light. There are some romantic ballads as well as playful fusion banter on “Raoul” and “George”, a tribute to George Bohamon who joins the party on trombone! Jose James sings “Lazy Afternoon”, the lone vocal track. You can chill to the gentle breeze set up on “Penthouse A” with Chico dancing on the cymbals accompanied by guitarist Cary DiNigris, then swing on “Broadway”. It is yet another strong showing from the venerable drummer.
