O’s Notes: Lou plays sax and leads the“Not So Big Band. Despite the billing, their sound is large. It’s a powerful, precise brass section. Don Stein (p), Warren Smith (vibes), Virginia Mayhew (sax), Dale Turk (tuba) and Leopoldo Fleming (perc) are some of the talented band members. The twelve selections are all classics rearranged to suit Caputo’s band. “Stolen Moments”, “Los Cielos De Ayer” and “Fried Bananas” are just a few of the magical moments on this CD, one for new and old jazz fans to embrace.
