O’s Notes: Mosaic is a multinational sextet with musicians from Bulgaria, France, Portugal and Tunisia. They are Adele Virot (cello), Diogo Alexandre (d), Georgi Dobrev (kaval), Hamid Jammoussi (perc), Noe Clerc (accordion), and Ze Almeida (b). Each of them contributes compositions to the album. They blend Mediterranean music with Western European and American jazz. We liked the use of syncopation throughout the session notably on the finale of the Malta suite. We also enjoyed the haunting the mysterious “Zadels”.
