O’s Notes: Kiko (g) and his band Yaniel Matos (p), Cuca Teixeira (d) and Calinhos Noronha (b) play Latin jazz-fusion. They are Brazilians playing with passion and feeling that engages the listener. Kiko and Yaniel wrote each of the ten songs, a mix of upbeat and more relaxed tunes like “Anastácia” a mid-tempo ballad and “Monday Morning”. Kiko has lots of dexterity sometimes reminding us of Al DiMeola on songs like “Arcos Da Lapa”. Of course they had to include a little “Samba Da Elisa” making this a well-balanced set.
