O’s Notes: Amsterdam-based Canadian trombonist Nick Adema leads a quartet with Joy Shechter (p), Azubike Onwuka (b), and Chen Har Even (d). There are an additional seven guest musicians, notably tenor saxophonist Noah Preminger who appears on 7 of the 12 selections, and Ante Medic (g) who appears on 3 tracks. Urban Chaos is heavily syncopated jazz-fusion, a reflective of the changes in urban landscapes around the world. We enjoyed “The End Of A Love Affair”, “Oak” featuring vocalist Lisa Dumpe, and a warm ballad “The Fool” with a string trio.
