O’s Notes: She shares a vocal register with Cassandra Wilson with a style that is similar yet distinct. Barber’s deep and airy lyrics are drenched with emotion and complemented by music that is simple yet rich. Dave Douglas gives a rousing performance on trumpet, particularly on the opener. The songs are poetic, folksy, blues, each well delivered along with song.
