O’s Notes: Virgo“is a solid outing from Fazioli pianist Rex Bell. He puts together a good selection of musicians: Eric Chesher (synths, orchestration), Lisa Doss (fl), Brian Brown (d) and bassist Joe Vick who shines on “The Broken Column” and “Elfrieda Swing”. We also enjoyed “Malala”, a song dedicated to women’s equality and rights with an introduction by Nobel Prize Winner, Malala Yousafzai. The generous accompanying liner notes add color and depth to these instrumentals.
