O’s Notes: Carline Ray is an accomplished jazz bassist. She also has a very powerful contra alto voice with great range and depth. The latter is the focal point of Vocal Sides. Catherine Ray is Carline’s daughter, producer and also guest vocalist on two spiritual tracks notably “Land Beyond The River”. The music was recorded between 2008-11 and just released. At 88 years old as of this writing, we consider Carline Ray a living legend.
