O’s Notes: Voice Like a Horn is an accurate description of Pete McGuinness and his interactions with a microphone. His vocals and scatting fit into the band like another instrument. McGuinness also plays trombone and takes generous melodic solos. The songs are all familiar classics but they take in fresh air with this approach. Pete shares the spotlight with a strong band that swings with warm brass harmonies courtesy of guest artists Jon Gordon (sax, fl) and Bill Mobley (t) for two selections.
