O’s Notes: Trumpeter Chris Rogers puts together an excellent band to perform a set of swinging contemporary jazz-fusion tunes. He lets the band members play and they step up to the plate delivering riveting solo one after the other. That team includes Michael Brecker (ts), Ted Nash (ts, as), Steve Khan (g) and Xavier Davis (p). But Rogers is doing more than letting the guests shine. He delivers sweet trumpet melodies throughout the encounter making the Voyage Home a trip worth taking.
