O’s Notes: Austrians Michaela Rabitsch (t, vocals) and Robert Pawlik (g) lead the Voyagers, a quartet with Joe Abentung (b) and Dusan Novakov (d, perc). They record their forth album together influenced by their travels around the globe. They successfully infuse local flavors from their tour spots. We enjoyed “Varna” with guest artist Robert Bachner contributing an excellent trombone solo. Michaela scats and Robert solos to some fierce funky beats on “Unique”. She switches to trumpet in a hot Latin exchange with Pawlik on “Malaga”. This is high-level entertainment that rocks across the continent.
