O’s Notes: Check this out for a dose of exotic Latin beats with powerful vocals in several languages. Morales expresses the strength, rhythm and voice of many women that she admires. The rhythms are vibrant with strong contributions from the accompanying musicians. Rick Vandivier (g) and Frank Martin (p) have great solos on “Ava Rara”, and “Agua de Beber”. Kenny Washington joins her with Brian Dyer anchoring the bass voice on an all-vocal rendition of “Calling You”. There are eleven songs with about half being originals. It is an upbeat and spirited session with mixed messages.
