O’s Notes: Pianist Mihoko Abe leads a trio with Thomas Hebb (b) and Yoron Israel (d). They open with the pleasing sounds of “Whirling Away” one of six original tunes complimented by two standards. “We’ll See” has a jovial bossa nova beat highlighted by a strong silo by Israel. The energy between Hebb and Israel comes through on both takes of “Blue Light” a rousing blues tunes held together by Mihoko. She shines on the “If I Should Lose You” and her upbeat arrangement of “Yesterdays”. It is a strong modern jazz set.
