O’s Notes: Veteran drummer Jerry Granelli has always been on the cutting edge of music from rock-fusion to free jazz along with straight-ahead jazz spanning at least five decades. What I Hear Now is his current take on life, and music? Simon Fisk (b), Andrew Jackson (tb), Mike Morley (ts), “Dani Oore (ts, ss) and Andrew McKelvey (as) join Granelli for seven selections that span a wide range. We liked the lazy blues on “The Swamp” best. Overall, this is a good view into the mind of a master.
