O’s Notes: This is an interesting mix with “The Earth, The Sky” led by Dixon’s wailing sax melodies; the acid rap infused “Looking Up”; and a more subtle R&B-like “Love of my Life” with Cynthia Layne singing. Joel Kelsey steps up with a nice bass solo on “From the Flame” and Allyson Horton speaks poetry on “Power in the Vision”. There’s a funky backbeat behind the soft sweet vocals of Layne on “Still”. We liked “Flagships” with it’s catchy hooks and Dixon leading on soprano sax and also “Beautiful Nightmare”. They put the acid rap up front and then settled down into a cool set. After we got past the initial hit, this one was very good.
