O’s Notes: Flutist Jamie Baum return with her septet on her latest release, What Times Are These. Her septet includes Sam Sadigursky (sax, cl, b-cl), Luis Perdomo (p), Chris Komer (French horn), Ricky Rodriguez (b), Jeff Hirshfield (d) and guest percussionist Jamey Haddad on four selections. The music has a calming effect and her characteristic exotic, spiritual sounds. Highlights are “Sorrow Song” featuring guest vocalists KOKAYI & Aubrey Johnson, “My Grandmother In The Stars” & “I Am Wrestling With Despair”, both featuring vocalist Sara Serpa, and “In Those Years” with vocalist Theo Bleckmann.
