O’s Notes: Saxophonist, arranger, composer Dave Wilson reimagines classic pop tunes alongside a few originals on When Even Goes East. The band behind Dave is pianist Jesse Green, bassist Evan Gregor, drummer Daniel Gonzalez, and special guest, percussionist Lenny Castro. Those familiar with Wilson’s work will easily find the original songs. They are decidedly more straight-ahead jazz vs. the easy listening vibe of songs like “These Days” and “Adios”. Our favorites are “Let’s Go”, “Intergalactic Sunset”, and the title track.
