O’s Notes: Hibbard is a new face on the scene, a sax player with a lot of creative juice. He composed all eleven of these neobop/fusion tunes. They are fresh and full of energy. Mace plays with a passion that draws the listener into the music, especially on “The Tempest” and “Reverend Boots ‘n’ Ball”. The band is a quartet including Louis Heriveaux (p), Justin Varnes (d) and Marc Miller on bass. Byran Leitch (g) makes a guest appearance on four songs, notably “Raiders of the Lost Marc”, a fusion tune.
