O’s Notes: Guitarist/vocalist Dave Costa is a romantic. He teams up with Chuck Bennett (b, tb) and Eric Garland (d) to play a dozen love-based ballads. They are all classics except the title track, a bouncy tune that fits in perfectly. There is a nice mix of tempos with “Perdido” and “April In Paris” occupying each end of the spectrum. Costa even takes us below the equator for a little bossa nova with “The Girl From Ipanema” an instrumental with a fine bass solo from Bennett. Bennett shines again with solos on “Autumn Leaves” and “The Shadow Of Your Smile”. He switches to trombone for the bouncy finale to cap an upbeat session with strong support for Costa.
