O’s Notes: Opening with “Here’s That Rainy Day”, complemented with elegant guitar work from Paul Bollenback, we are given a quick taste of the sheer beauty of Carol’s voice. She’s up close and personal with eleven warm tracks that are easy to embrace. An excellent example is “The Lady’s In Love With You”. The band is Norman Simmons (p), Paul West (b), Grady Tate (d) and the aforementioned Bollenback who is exceptional on this session. Houston Person accentuates the positive with his sax on four tunes embellishing Sloane’s lyrics. These are strong jazz vocals from a seasoned veteran.
