O’s Notes: Rondi sings a dozen classics, all centered on a time theme. It’s a novel approach that flows gently complemented by a strong cast of musicians. Guitarist Dave Stryker shadows Charleston notably on the title track and as she scats elsewhere. James Genus (b), Mayra Casalis (perc) and Clarence Penn (d) anchor the beats and shine on the bossa nova beats of “Wave”. Lynne Arriale and Brandon McCune grace the keyboards. There are many enjoyable moments during this session. Our favorites are “Freedom is a Voice”, “Everything You Were Meant to Be” and the bluesy “Please Send Me Someone to Love”.
