O’s Notes: Blues were started in New Orleans, Mississippi and Memphis. But as people migrated north for the industrial jobs, they brought blues with them. The Windy City, Chicago became the recording mecca for blues for most of the 20th century. It is still a great place to enjoy live blues today. This CD features some music from legendary artists including Albert King (g), Bad Boy Arnold (harmonica, v), Sunnyland Slim (v,p), Homesick James (v,g), Willie Dixon (v,b) and Otis Spann (p). Muddy Waters (g), Phil Upchurch (b), Mighty Joe Young (g) and King Curtis (sax). The music is as colorful as their names with many of the songs coming out of obscurity. You will enjoy both classics and hidden treasures.
