O’s Notes: The warm baritone of Grady Tate and stage-like forwardness of Nancy Harrow combine to tell the stories of Winter Dreams. The twelve tunes are strong, from the calypso beats of “This Side of Paradise” to “Dear Max”. The surrounding musicians embellish the performance, particularly Frank Wess (ts, fl), Rufus Reid (b) and Bill Easley (reeds). The songs were inspired by the life of F. Scott Fitzgerald. Like some of Harrow’s other literary dedications, this one is poised to have a theatrical accompaniment. We are anxious to see it happen!
