O’s Notes: Guitarist and crooner John Pizzarelli takes the romantic track for With A Song In My Heart. This is a collection of a dozen songs written by Richard Rogers, a small sampling of his writings that include over 900 titles. John is singing, scatting and playing his guitar with his usual precision. Dad, Bucky (g) makes a guest appearance and brother Martin plays the bass along with Larry Fuller (p) and Tony Tedesco (d). They play “Johnny One Note” with a samba beat and lots of gusto and swing on “Mountain Greenery” and “The Lady Is a Tramp”. It’s a good look at some of Rogers’s best work.
