O’s Notes: Sonny continues to grow and he certainly excels as a performer (71 when the recording was made). This concert took place in Boston just days after the 9/11 tragedy that Rollins witnessed from his NY apartment. Like many of us, the musicians were still in a sate of shock, but the heart felt emotion of the music helped us deal with reality, like it always does. Sonny was definitely on.
