O’s Notes: This is a tribute to Jaco, perhaps the finest electric bassist of the fusion era. He, like so many musicians, was plagued by drugs and alcohol combined with a natural chemical imbalance, he entered a path that lead to his death on September 21, 1987. But his musical genius can’t be debated as evidenced by this collection of his compositions. The delivery is made by the best of today’s jazz bassists backed by a solid big band. The roster includes Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Gerald Veasley, Christian McBride, Jimmy Haslip, Victor Bailey and more. All were influenced and all do justice here!
