O’s Notes: Works is the resident ensemble for the non-profit, Brooklyn based organization Connection Works. They are Michel Gentile (fl), Daniel Kelly (p) and Rob Garcia (d). The trio sound much larger than three and play with an abundance of energy. Each contributes three compositions and one soliloquy to the mix. While they have performed together and in various configurations over the last seven years, this is their debut recording. It should expand their NY-based audience quickly. Modern jazz is indeed alive and moving forward.
