O’s Notes: This is a digitally remastered session from 1983 live at Palazzo dei Congressi. The trio is Herbie Hancock (p), Billy Cobham (d) and Ron Carter (b), all on top of their games. Their interactions are absolutely seamless. The video capture of this event is excellent. The cameramen pick up crucial facial expressions, hand movements, even reflections that embellish the mood. They even manage to catch Ron Carter smiling! Ten songs including “Dolphin Dance” (solo by Hancock) and “Eye of the Hurricane” are done very well.
