O’s Notes: Scherrer’s (sax) sextet includes Bill Carrothers (p), John Bucher (sax), Domenic Landolf (sax), Fabian Gisler (b) and Dré Pallemaerts (d). They are a strong band with a good since of swing. The brass is powerful but not overwhelming. They present rich harmonies on “Karma”. Andy varies the pace and the mood going from the festive “Jordan Is A Hard Road To Travel” to the relaxed cool vibe of “Freckles”, one of our favorites. The dynamics are excellent adding drama and suspense to the performance.
