O’s Notes: Randy plays alto and soprano sax leading a quintet along with a lush string section. Christin Borisch adds beautiful vocals on two tracks notably “Invitation”. We also enjoyed the upbeat groove of “Port” featuring a strong solo by Allen Beeson (t) and “Second Wind” with nice work on the keys by Kyle Aho. These are two of five Hamm originals. Randy steps up with a warm melody on “In The Wee Small Hours of the Morning”. These guys show the ability to shine on cookers and ballads leading to a solid encounter on Yellow Cadenza.
