O’s Notes: This is an amalgamation of fresh sounds, hip-hop, fusion and neobop. The acid (hip hop/rap) portion is funky with cool harmonized vocals and spoken rap lyrics placed on syncopated beats. It makes your head shake and your hips move while including sophisticated jazz instrumentation along the way. “Neoparadeigma” is a funky fusion instrumental. Grégoire Maret is featured with harmonica melodies on “Con Alma” and “Bad Air”, cooler tracks with Latin spices. This is an impressive CD that blends popular contemporary and urban sounds with the true essence of jazz. It works well.
