O’s Notes: Brianna is a soulful songbird with a powerful set of lungs. You’ll make that determination less than a minute into the opening track “Bye Bye Blackbird”. She’s singing and scatting in front of a talented trio anchored by drummer Ulysses Owens, Jr. Six guest artists add variety to the mix led by guitarist Russell Malone, Wycliffe Gordon (tb) and Marcus Printup (t). Thomas reminds us that she’s in charge on “In A Mellow Tone” and the emotion packed “I Should’ve Known”, one of four originals in the 11-song set. You Must Believe In Love is a fresh vibrant club set.
