O’s Notes: This album, 7X7by7 is all about 7s, seven pieces performed by seven musicians with each track lasting seven minutes. The leader, composer Bryan Lynch (t) is joined by Craig Handy (t-sax), Luis Perdomo (p), Boris Kozlov (b), Alex Wintz (g), Kyle Swan (d), and Murph Aucamp (perc). The music is modern jazz with a twist of Latin spanning Brian’s 63 years (9 times 7). The multiples of seven are everywhere and it’s sounding like the magic associated with the number! There’s a lot to enjoy, from “In The Riv” to “Finnegan’s Garden”. The stellar musicians contribute strong solos in an exciting, adventurous session, notably on “Greeting on 87th Street”.
