O’s Notes: Austrian trumpeter, Koglmann has a fascination with poetry. He selects the scandalous Lolita as his inspiration for this work. The band is a quartet with Ed Renshaw (g), Tony Coe (sax) and Peter Herbert (b). The music is very engaging and like the poem it has many moods. Koglmann does a fine job with his interpretation. The music at first seems a bit strange but before you know it, you are already through the midpoint having fully engaged on several passages. The absence of a drummer keeps the spirit light but it is not missed. This is one to sit back and enjoy slowly.
