O’s Notes: Australian fusion guitarist James Wengrow makes his debut on Emissary. Danish bassist Mathias Højgaard Jensen, and New York drummer James Paul Nadien join to form Wengrow’s Crypsis Trio. They play highly improvised rock fusion, with six originals composed by Wengrow and two covers. The music is a unique blend of rock and jazz genres. Highlights are “Arborealpolitik”, “Deadline Junky” with a fine solo by Jensen, This is for Us to Share”, and “Let’s Call This”.
