O’s Notes: Way North is a Canadian quartet featuring Rebecca Hennessy (t), Petr Cancura (sax), Michael Herring (b) and Richie Barshay (d). Each of them contributes original music along with a 2-song Jelly Roll Morton Medley. There’s a fresh New Orleans bounce going on with“Fearless and Kind“as they bring a taste of Bourbon Street across the Northern Border. We liked the relaxed pace of “Lagoon”, “You Know A Song” and “Act 1: Buddy’s Bolden Blues”.
