O’s Notes: Pianist, vocalist and composer Michelle Rosewoman is masterful at combining Afro Cuban beats, brass and piano notes and Hallowed is another fine example. Her band New Yor-Uba, fuses NY modern jazz with Cuban folklore. Percussionist, vocalist Roman Dias is the inspiration for the bulk of the work here with a fresh, ten-part suite “Oru de Oro” (room of gold). The work is all original except “The Wind is the First to Know” based on traditional songs. This is a rich musical experience.
