O’s Notes: This is a relaxing set from Brazilian pianist, Antonio Adolfo on Balaios. Balaios are the baskets that African Brazilian women use to carry goods on their heads with items carefully placed inside. Similarly, Adolfo selects the songs for this outing from across his career that are balanced for this effort. The band is a large ensemble performing beautiful instrumentals. Highlights are “Sambalaio”, “Claudia” featuring guest guitarist Thom Rotella, “Zach Toom Toom”, “San Expedito”, and the relaxed “My Chant” with guest Leo Gandelman (a-sax).
