O’s Notes: Douye is a Nigerian jazz vocalist now residing in Los Angeles. The Golden Sèkèrè was created to honor and celebrate her heritage. She has a powerful voice with deep, warm tone that she spreads across 14 classics. They shine on “Green Dolphin Street”, ”It Don’t Mean A Thing”, and the big band arrangement of “I’ve Got You Under My Skin”. Guitarist Lionel Loueke appears on two selections notably “I’m Confessin That I Love You”. Trumpeter Sean Jones makes a guest appearance on “My Funny Valentine” and bassist Buster Williams is featured on “Devil May Care”. The booklet includes beautiful photos of Douye in full color for every selection!
