O’s Notes: Nigerian jazz vocalist Douyé Doubara Bella Youduba, or simply Douye has recorded both R&B and jazz albums, shifting to the latter on her last few releases including her latest, Stay With Me. The Los Angeles resident is well articulated with soft, deep tones. She plays ten classic selections with several variations of a strong band including co-producer George Cables (p), Sean Conly (b), Jerome Jennings (d), and Craig Handy (sax). There are also three original songs, collaborations with Rufus Bordal. The band for these tunes is arranger Mina Choi (p), Edwin Livingston (b), Clayton Cameron (d), Barclay Moffitt (sax), and Kye Palmer (t). The program is well integrated and pleasing.
