O’s Notes: Eaton’s primary instrument is guitar, but he also plays bass, keyboards, drums and percussion, a one-man band for this recording. It is tough to classify, and Brian calls it cowboy jazz! There are seven selections that evoke thoughts of deserted dusty plains. The mood is melancholic, in part because Eaton is mourning the loss of his father for whom this album is dedicated. We particularly enjoyed the “Like A Root out of Dry Ground” illustrating Eaton’s resilience in a stressful time. Other highlights are “The Olive, The Fig, And the Vine”, and “The Sitka Sings, The Sitka Sleeps”.
