O’s Notes: Umoja (Unity) is an African musical collective that plays contemporary jazz. There are a wide variety of moods on Dance of The Kalahari. Willie Geeter croons on “Feeling My Way”, sings the blues on “Three Strikes” including solos from Larry Douglas (t) and Damu Alii (p). We were energized by “Our Problem To Solve” featuring M. B. Hanif (s-sax), the mellow “Matrix Blues” with Kenneth Byrd blending his flute with the horns, and the spiritual “For You” with Alii’s lengthy opening.
