O’s Notes: Saxophonist, composer Elias Haslanger leads a strong band with Mike Sailors (t), Ross Margitza (p), Andy Langham (p) Ryan Hagler (b), and Daniel Dufour (d) as they create their Legacy. They opened swinging with the title track, and we were off to the races in a set that begs for your attention. The vibe continues with “Going Home”, and “Swinging at Monks”. They dial it back a notch on “Faith in Family”, “Conferring with the Flowers”, “Reflection”, and “Sweet Relief”. They live up to the promise of the title, cutting across many tempos for a fine session.
