O’s Notes: Usually when we think of legendary blues artists with the last name King, the first name that pops up is BB; a close second is Albert; and the one that we least come across is Freddie. Most likely it is because Freddie died at the young age of 42 before generating as much material as the others. Albert and BB lived to 69 and 82 respectively, but don’t get confused, Freddie had a lot to offer. Feeling Alright is a 2-disc compilation recorded at the Nancy Jazz Pulsations Festival in Nancy France on October 10, 1975. Freddie gets support from Alvin Hempfill (organ), Ed Lively (g), Lewis Stephens (p), bassist Benny Turner (b), and Calep Emphrey (d). This is 100%, unapologetic BLUES and Freddie is tearing it up! “Sweet Little Angel” says it all.
