O’s Notes: Trumpeter Rachel Spencer has some pent-up anger about several things that are going wrong. But she’s learned that sometimes music can be an expression for relieving some of that tension. In this case, she partners with a fine team, including Michael Dease (tb), Gene Centeno (a-sax), Andy Langham (p), Liam O’Dell (b), and Adam Jackson (d). The Next Right Thing is the result. “Steamrollin’”, “Essential Company”, the mellow “Queen of Cups”, and “I Can Almost Remember” are some of the bests of the 7 tracks.
