O’s Notes: Smooth jazz trumpeter Gabriel Mark Hasselbach serves up another winning hand on 2024’s Count Your Lucky Stars, composed and produced with Lew Lang, Jr. (rhythm). They set the mood for a mellow set starting with “SunSeeker” featuring Marion Meadows (s-sax). It’s perfect on a loop a background at a social gathering. We liked “We Are” the lone vocal featuring Alfie Zappacosta, “That Being Said” with Steve Alaniz (sax) & Andre Frappier (g), “Force of Habit” starring Mark with Miles Black (p), and Andrew Freeman (g), and “State of Play” featuring Andrew Jacob Scott (g).
