O’s Notes: 20-year-old La Lucha is an entertaining band centered around the founding trio, keyboardist John O’Leary, bassist Alejandro Arenas, and drummer Mark Feinman. Guests are polished and plentiful including Jeff Coffin (sax), Wycliffe Gordon (tb), Guianna (vocals), and Allison Nash (vocals). Tides is a solid blend of jazz, R&B and Latin with a lot to enjoy. Highlights are the cool instrumental cover of “Feel Like Making Love”, “Steppin’ Out” featuring Nash and Gordon, “Mo Better Blues”, “Tides”, and “Polka Dots and Moonbeams”.
