O’s Notes: Karen Stachel plays flutes and sings with co-leader Norbert playing sax and flutes. Their rhythm section is Matt Clark (p), Dan Feiszli (b), and Dan Gonzalez (d), with guest percussionist Giovanni Hidalgo. The music was composed by the leaders. The groove on LehCats is fresh, funky and relevant right out of my gate with “Step On It”. This is a live session recorded at The Breakroom in San Jose, CA, October 18, 2024. Karen sings on “Sunshine”, There are also videos on the 2-disc set. Other notable songs are “Mandela” and “Power Tap”.
