O’s Notes: This soundtrack was urban poetry for the hit movie Shaft back in 19. Hayes’ orchestration parallels the action of the movie and accentuates all of the points. You can feel the suspense in tracks like “Walk From Reggio’s” and the romantic mood expressed by “Ellie’s Love Theme”. Whether you saw the movie or not, the soundtrack had all of the element of cool, especially the “Theme From Shaft”. This is a worthy performance for the application of SACD technology.
